David Wilcox is a Non-Resident Fellow at the Peterson Institute for International Economics. Prior to joining Peterson David served as Director of the Division of Research and Statistics at the Federal Reserve Board in Washington, DC. David also served as Assistant Secretary for Economic Policy at the Treasury Department from 1997 to 2001, and as a senior economist at the Council of Economic Advisers from 1994 to 1995. Wilcox’s current research focuses on the US macroeconomy and the conduct of monetary policy, and on diversity and inclusion, especially in the economics profession.
Wilcox received a doctoral degree in economics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Williams College. He serves on the Federal Economic Statistics Advisory Committee,and a task force commissioned by the American Economic Association to recommend best practices for improving diversity and inclusion in the economics profession.
