Welcome to the website of the New York Chapter of the National Association for Business Economics (NABE).
Dear fellow NYABE members:
Welcome to the start of a new year for NYABE (2010-2011). It is my pleasure to be this year’s President. Summer is rapidly coming to a close, but the Executive Committee has been busy preparing for our Fall lineup of events. We already anticipate an exciting season.
Professor Paul R. Krugman will be the recipient of our annual William F. Butler award for 2010. Professor Krugman was the winner of the Nobel Memorial Prize for Economics and currently writes a very influential editorial for the New York Times. Our first meeting, the Butler Award luncheon, is scheduled for October 4th.
Our upcoming calendar is still coming together, but we have several other exciting highlights. Dallas Federal Reserve President Richard Fisher will join us on October 19th. President Fisher will be a voting FOMC member in January 2011. On December 14th, Washington policy analyst Tom Gallagher will join us and provide his outlook on key developments for the new Congress after the November elections.
I would like thank all those on our committee who have already worked hard to bring this timely and important speaking program together for our upcoming year. I am honored to be a part of this year’s activity.
In addition to our chapter agenda, the 2010 NABE Annual Meeting, Mile-High Challenges to Economic Prosperity, will convene October 9-12, 2010. Confirmed speakers include Janet Yellen, Michael Spence, Tom Hoenig, John Taylor, Laurence Meyer and Robert Samuelson. I hope you can attend and I encourage you to check out the latest updates for the annual NABE meeting on their website, www.nabe.com
